Working Law Solicitors primarily advises employees and small businesses on the full range of employment matters, including:

  • Terms and conditions of employment
  • Employees’ rights and obligations
  • Business reorganisations and transfers
  • Changes to working conditions
  • Flexible working and maternity and paternity issues
  • Holidays and ill-health absence
  • Bullying and harassment in the workplace
  • Compromise agreements
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Unfair dismissal
  • Redundancy
  • Discrimination, including age, sex and disability discrimination.

Sally represents clients in the Employment Tribunal and has also successfully appeared before the Employment Appeal Tribunal in London in a case that was widely reported in the specialist employment law journals and reports.

Sally knows that many people are put off by the “stuffy” image of the legal profession and by the legal jargon that lawyers are prone to use. She is also very aware that people who have just lost their job or are setting up a new business venture cannot afford large legal bills, yet still need sound advice.

Sally will:

  • Deal with your case personally at all times.
  • Provide advice promptly and clearly.
  • Focus on your needs and wishes and advise on all options at the outset.
  • Keep you updated in the way that is most convenient to you.

Sally aims to be approachable and affordable. Most lawyers charge an hourly rate according to the time spent on the client’s matter. Sally does charge some clients on this basis and is able to offer competitive rates. She is also willing to explore other forms of funding such as fixed fees, no-win-no-fee arrangements and legal expenses insurance. She will discuss costs with you at the first meeting and agree on the work to be done and how it will be charged for before you incur any costs.

Following a languages degree, Sally had a brief career in international banking before studying law and qualifying as a solicitor with a large Cambridge firm. She later spent seven years working for one of the largest law firms in London, specialising in commercial litigation and representing a wide range of clients from a Spanish bank to a German brewery. Her cases involved disputes over such diverse issues as commodities trading, slag reduction and the most expensive car in the world (a Ferrari 250 GTO, sold for around $14 million in 1989).

Family commitments took Sally to Central America, to Guatemala and Panama, and a new career as a legal translator – something that she still pursues in her “spare time”.

Returning to England, Sally decided on a change of legal direction, studying for a masters degree in employment law at the University of East Anglia, whilst providing employment and other advice at a local Citizens Advice Bureau. She then worked in the employment law department of a Norwich law firm before setting up her own practice in summer 2008.

Sally has a diploma in international commercial arbitration and an interest in mediation.

Sally has offices on the North Norfolk coast near Cromer. She is also happy to meet clients at their own homes/premises or to arrange a venue at which to meet in Norwich. She aims to be flexible and to meet your requirements.

Working Law Solicitors is normally open from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday but Sally is happy to meet you in the evening or at a weekend if that is more convenient.
